Although the injuries to Vermaelen and Wilshere have put a dampener on things, overall I expect the mood to be upbeat thanks to those new faces.

Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby, Sebastien Squillaci and Thomas Vermaelen are all sidelined, while Tomas Rosicky is also doubtful due to a knee knock. Gervinho, Alex Song and Carl Jenkinson are all suspended although Emmanuel Frimpong returns from a ban. Andre Santos is short of fitness and may not make his debut, but Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker are likely to feature.
