Last weekend’s 3-2 win at Blackpool was an awesome performance by the City side, thanks to a Carlos Tevez effort and a wonderful solo strike from David Silva. Also in the midweek’s Europa league game, Emmanuel Adebayor, scored a hat-trick against Lech Poznan and Mancini has already indicated that he will be featuring in the match against his former club.
The striker has been clearly overshadowed by Carlos Tevez, who has emerged as the club’s most dangerous forward, scoring in 18 of their last 19 Premier League victories. Tevez burst into life when his strike partner was substituted, allowing the Argentine to play as a lone forward. Roberto Mancini has said that it is normal for his teams to play with two strikers, but Tevez and Adebayor have rarely gelled together.
Fit-again Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli could be on the bench, left-back Aleksandar Kolarov will not feature despite training. City will test Kolo Toure’s game time fitness.
