Manchester City keeper Joe Hart will retain his place in the starting line-up for Thursday's Europa League play-off first leg against FC Timisoara.
City boss Roberto Mancini picked Hart, 23, ahead of Shay Given, 34, for the draw at Tottenham and has kept faith with youngster for the trip to Romania.
But Mancini is without left-back Aleksandar Kolarov (ankle) and fellow defender Jerome Boateng (knee).
Left-back Wayne Bridge also misses the match with a broken bone in his foot.
New signing Mario Balotelli is in line to feature after replacing fellow striker Roque Santa Cruz in the travelling party.
Uefa confirmed on Wednesday that Balotelli was registered in time to play in the tie following his transfer from Inter Milan.
"Joe Hart will play, " said Mancini, who saw Hart produce a number of marvellous saves in the 0-0 stalemate at White Hart Lane and has told Given he can leave if he so wishes.
"I had a very difficult choice to make before the Spurs game because I have two world-class goalkeepers. It is difficult for one of them to sit on the bench.
"I respect Shay Given a lot. He is a good man and I want him to stay, but I also understand any decision he might make."
Former Lazio defender Kolarov, a £16m summer acquisition, damaged ankle ligaments against Spurs on Saturday and it is unclear for how long he will be sidelined.
Boateng, who signed from Hamburg in June, is likely to be out of action for a couple of weeks with a deep cut on the inside of his knee.
"I will make maybe two or three changes but we have the players that allow me to do that," Mancini added. "I was pleased with the spirit and the fight at Tottenham. They are a good side that has been together for a long period of time.
"They were very good in the first half but we played well in the second and had 61% of possession. To dominate the ball like we did was excellent. We still need time to gel as a unit - I only had all the players for one day before the match, so I want to see more of them in this tie."
Manchester City (from): Hart, Given, Richards, Zabaleta, Lescott, K Toure, Kompany, Wright-Phillips, Johnson, Barry, Silva, Vieira, De Jong, Y Toure, Tevez, Adebayor, Robinho, Santa Cruz, Balotelli, Jo, Cunningham, Logan.
Manchester City’s Europa League campaign gets underway with a trip to Romania for the first leg of their play-off tie with FC Timisoara.
Fresh from a summer of significant spending in the transfer market, Roberto Mancini has a wealth of options at his disposal and may shuffle his pack for this one despite it being just the second competitive fixture of the season.
At the start of last season, then manager Mark Hughes said he felt the lack of European action could help his side break into the top four.
But if Mancini is to do it in the Premier League this season, it will be as one of four competitions, including the Europa League after their fifth place finish in 2009-10.
City are amongst the favourites to win Europe's second tier trophy, but much will depend on how seriously they take it, particularly if they are in contention for success elsewhere and the fixtures begin to pile up as the season progresses.
Timisoara take on millionaires
Timisoara also finished fifth in their league - Liga 1 - last time around, ending up 10 points behind Romanian champions CFR Cluj.
They experienced Europa League action last season, failing to progress from a group containing Anderlecht, Ajax and Dinamo Zagreb after losing to Vfb Stuttgart in the Champions League play-off round.
This season they have made a steady but unspectacular start to their domestic campaign. In four games so far they have won one and drawn three, although their victory was an impressive one against Cluj.
Their last game was on Sunday away to Universitatea Craiova, where a last minute Ianis Zicu equaliser earned them a 1-1 draw.
Unlike City, they have had to play a tie already to reach this stage, beating MYPA of Finland 5-4 on aggregate after an entertaining tie.
TEAM NEWS
FC Timisoara
FC Timisoara will make a late check on the fitness of winger Dorin Goga, who had to be substituted at half-time of their weekend league fixture.
Czech Republic international Lukas Magera is expected to partner starlet Mircea Axente in a lively looking strikeforce.
Experienced Portuguese goalkeeper Pedro Taborda should edge out young rival Costel Pantilimon due to the importance of the clash with City.
Possible Starting XI: Taborda, Sepsi, Scutaru, Luchin, Cisovsky; Contra, Alexa, Curtean, Bourceanu; Magera, Axente.
Manchester City
Manchester City are to be without defensive new boys Jerome Boateng and Aleksandar Kholarov. The Serb is ruled out after picking up ankle ligament damage in the 0-0 weekend draw with Tottenham Hotspur, while Boateng has stayed at home due to a deep cut on his leg.
Substitute left-back Wayne Bridge is also unavailable after breaking a bone in his foot.
Mario Balotelli may play some part in the match to debut at the expense of Roque Santa Cruz who has been dropped from the squad, but James Milner has not signed in time to be in contention.
Roberto Mancini has declared he will not make significant changes to his side for the game in Romania and is set to continue with Joe Hart in goal.
Possible Starting XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Toure, Kompany, Lescott; Barry, Vieira, Toure; Johnson, Adebayor, Robinho.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
FC Timisoara
Mircea Axente is finally getting his chance with Timisoara after a string of loan spells and has been taking it so far in the 2010-11 campaign.
The 23-year-old striker has scored two goals from three starts in Liga 1 and also netted in both legs as the Romanian side defeated MYPA in the Europa League third qualifying round.
The No.9 is expected to play a key role against City on Thursday, so the Premier League visitors will certainly need to be on guard.
Manchester City
After struggling to make an impact following his £24 million move from Everton and missing World Cup 2010 through injury, all eyes will be on Joleon Lescott.
The utility defender is expected to plug City's problem left-back position. From this spot he launched his bid to get into the England team while on Merseyside.
A solid performance in Romania could start to justify the huge fee paid out last summer.
PREDICTION
FC Timisoara are a decent, well organised outfit with experienced players who have played on the European stage before.
But while they are hard to beat, they do lack star quality and Manchester City go in as favourites to win the match and progress in the tie.
Although Roberto Mancini may make some changes for the game and throughout the competition, his side should still come out on top here.
